If you change the mode to L/R, you’ll be able to make changes to the left side and right side independently, so both sides can have different EQ curves. You can select which side you are affecting by choosing it in the Edit box. If you choose M/S mode, then you have chosen the Mid/Side mode.
2/18/2019 · If you have a mixed commercial track or loop handy, drop it in an Ableton Live session and put an EQ Eight on the track. Change the EQ Eight’s mode to M/S ( middle / side ) then under edit click to change between M and S. In M mode turn on the first filter and change it to lowpass.
In EQ Eight you have 3 modes – Stereo, L/R and M/S. The M/S will give you two different EQs. One for the Mid and one for the Side . Mid / Side Encoder Rack. To use this technique in Ableton Live with any effect I’ve built a simple rack that allows you to throw any effect on the Mid or on the Side chains.

10/6/2016 · Rename the chains— Mid , SIDE . It might be a good idea to rename each of the EQ 8s as well to avoid confusion later on. The audio on the channel will now be split up and sent to both EQs equally. We want to filter the MID chain to just output the central audio and the SIDE chain to output just the stereo field audio.
Mid Side Mixing In Ableton Live. The example I put above showed us a glimpse into editing with Mid Side in Ableton Live 9. I find the best way is to use the EQ 8 in the Mid Side Mode. What you do is drop in the EQ 8. Now you can choose the Mode to set it from stereo to M/S, meaning Mid/Side.
